Autumn days when the grass is jeweled…

I don’t remember much from my primary school days but somehow, despite the significant passing of decades, I remember every word to the assembly song that starts ‘Autumn days and the grass is jeweled and the silk inside a chestnut shell..’ (I could go on) and every time the season starts to shift in September and the leaves start to fall this song pops into my mind.

I love Autumn, it’s possibly my favourite season and I particularly love Autumn in Cornwall – wild coastal walks (and wild sea swims if you’re feeling brave, see previous blogs), woodlands with all the colours of Autumn on show, the harvests and abundance of seasonal food available and of course, Halloween on the horizon.

If you’re coming to visit us this half term, here are some of my personal top tips (and if you’d like to book, click HERE but be quick):

Visit the amazing pumpkin patch(es)at Trevaskis Farm
Have the most extravagant hot chocolate at Poldhu Beach cafe after walking along the coast from Church Cove
The beautiful Glendurgan Gardens look stunning in Autumn and you can wander through the gardens all the way to the private beach
And next door you’ll find Trebah Gardens who are offering a Bioflourescent Night Walk on Halloween
In Truro at the start of half term, check out the Great Cornish Seafood Weekend with chef demonstrations, wine tasting, a seafood bar and children’s activities.

And of course if you don’t feel like leaving Trelowarren we have our own heated outdoor pool, tennis courts, woodland walks and the outstanding Flora restaurant in our stable yard.

Can you think of a better place to spend the week?

Happy Autumn everyone – from Kerenza
