Daphne Du Maurier described Trelowarren as ‘a jewel in the palm of your hand’. As you wind our way along the drive, through ancient woodland that gives way to open parkland and views across rolling countryside tumbling into wooded valleys, it is easy to see why Ms Du Maurier was so enchanted by it. From the trees forming a leafy archway above and the hedgerows speckled with wildflowers to the lush expanses where fizz and feasting can be enjoyed alongside heady views, you, too, will succumb to its palpable sense of romance.
After the majestic arrival, you’ll approach a cluster of buildings that comprises the heart of Trelowarren: the 14th century manor house, The New Yard restaurant, the Pizza Shop, spa and leisure area.
Meandering lanes take you past features such as huge gunnera plants, Rococo gardens and a Neolithic chamber en route to luxurious five-star eco houses and cosy, traditional cottages, which are scattered throughout the estate. The hubbub of the modern world feels very far away from this secluded and tranquil spot.
The Grade I listed manor house, which has been home to the Vyvyan family for 600 years, is a dramatic building with turrets, ornate plasterwork and Gothic windows akin to a cathedral. It is a stirring backdrop for wedding photographs.
The Clock Tower Lawn, our marquee site and an elevated space overlooking the house, is surrounded by clouds of lilac and cream when the wisteria and magnolia are in bloom and blankets of daffodils in spring.
Our marquee site costs £1,500 to hire and includes bar license and car parking staff. Couples are then free to source the catering and further suppliers from elsewhere. We are happy to provide a list of our favourite suppliers on request.
For smaller parties, there’s The New Yard Restaurant, where up to 60 guests may dine amidst the lofty ceilings, arched windows and whitewashed brick walls peppered with vibrant artwork. Renowned for their delectable and creative cuisine, the celebrated team behind the restaurant provide catering services for weddings.
Perfect for an extended celebration, you might choose to kick off the festivities the evening before the wedding with a feast in the Pizza Shop, a quaint building festooned with colourful lighting. After the wedding, while away some blissed-out days relaxing in the spa, taking a dip in the outdoor heated ozone pool and indulging in sumptuous treatments. Dine at the restaurant; explore the Lizard Peninsula and discover the hidden corners of this beguiling spot.g
There are a number of beautiful places in the local area that can hold the ceremony. Trelowarren is not currently licensed to hold wedding ceremonies.
